Daft Punk\u2019s \u2018One More Time\u2019 is the French football team’s official FIFA 2026 World Cup goal song.<\/p>\n

As per updated audio rules for this summer’s tournament,\u00a0the national sport associations of competing countries have been able to submit individual choices for tunes that should be played after goals and other key match moments.<\/p>\n

The France team \u2014 currently ranked second in the world and odds-on favourites to win the final \u2014\u00a0began their World Cup campaign on Tuesday (16th June) with a 3-1 victory over Senegal. Legendary Daft Punk track \u2018One More Time\u2019 rang out across New Jersey\u2019s MetLife stadium three times as a result, including two goals from\u00a0striker Kylian Mbapp\u00e9, which you can watch back below.<\/p>\n

England opened their own World Cup campaign yesterday (17th June) by beating Croatia 4-2, giving fans their first taste of the FA\u2019s choice for goal song, \u2018Chase the Sun\u2019 by Planet Funk. Something of a step change from the last global football tournament in Qatar, when Gala\u2019s \u2018Freed From Desire\u2019 was an unofficial anthem.<\/p>\n

Other tracks that have soundtracked the 2026 tournament so far include Peter Schilling\u2019s 1980 synth-pop gem, \u2018Major Tom\u2019, selected by Germany\u2019s DFB football association. Meanwhile, FIFA has also compiled an extensive tournament compilation of its own, which includes work by David Guetta, Megan Thee Stallion, and Andrea Bocelli. Earlier this month, Daft Punk\u2019s Thomas Bangalter played a surprise DJ set on Brooklyn independent station,\u00a0The Lot Radio.<\/p>\n

A few days before, the artist was interviewed by The Times<\/em>\u00a0and asked (again) about the prospect of Daft Punk\u00a0reuniting for more shows and studio work.\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m really happy that throughout our long run we were able to not screw it up,\u201d he shared. \u201cThere are other things to explore.\u201d<\/p>\n
